What is Hoken?
Hoken is a hotel marketplace that lets you book in-demand hotel rooms at the hottest events and sell them back if your plans change. Think of us as the StockX or Stubhub for hotel room reservations.
How does trading hotel reservations work?
You find an event on our site, buy a hotel room reservation and hold it until you get closer to the event date. List it on our marketplace and typically the price and demand will rise the closer an event gets. If it doesn’t sell then the majority of our rooms qualify for a buyback guarantee, where you can sell the room back to us and recoup your investment.
What is your Buyback Guarantee?
Booking with Hoken comes with added peace of mind, thanks to our Buyback Guarantee. Look for the Buyback Guarantee logo to identify eligible rooms. If you find yourself unable to use or sell your reserved Buyback Guarantee-eligible room, simply reach out to us before the specified date, and we'll process a refund (refund amount may vary depending on room demand). Just use this link here up to 72H before your check-in date. You can easily check the Buyback Date and refund details on the hotel room's detail page before booking, and also in your confirmation email after purchase.
Am I responsible for incidentals or room damages?
On the operations side we handle all of that with a name change and credit card authorization form. Your details are no longer on the room reservation and you won't be responsible for any damages or incidentals.
What fees do you charge?
Currently Hoken charges no fees on purchasing a room and whenever you resell a room it is a low 7.5% compared to the 15-25% in fees charged by popular marketplaces like StockX, StubHub and GOAT.
Can I sell a room that wasn't purchased on Hoken?
Right now, only rooms purchased on Hoken can be resold in our marketplace, although we plan to expand to allow other listings on our marketplace
At what price should I sell my room on Hoken's marketplace?
Check your room's corresponding event's page to see and track how room prices are trending. We always show travelers the lowest-priced room options available. So if you'd like your room to sell quickly, start there.
Why is my room not selling?
It might be that you need to adjust your price (via your Roomfolio). We present travelers with the lowest-priced room options available, so if your room is priced too high, it won't be purchased first. You may also need to wait closer to the event date as demand and prices typically tend to rise right before an event.
How can I resell the room on the marketplace?
Once you’ve booked your room on Hoken, you can use the marketplace to track your room's demand and value. If you can’t make your plans or you’ve found other accommodations, simply resell it to earn some cash for your next trip. All you have to do is log in, go to your Roomfolio, select the booking you want to list, list it at the price you’d like, and wait for it to sell.
